On this historical event which was celebrated all over the world in year 1999, Navi Mumbai Punjabis joined in thousands to make the occasion wonderful on 4th April 1999 and PCWA showered the flowers on the Nagar Kirtan by hiring a Helicopter. It was first occasion that someone has done so ever. At that time PCWA saved little money and open its saving bank account on 13th April 1999 which was the first milestone achieved and PCWA was kick started and never look behind thereafter.
Punjabi Cultural and Welfare Association (PCWA) always remember national martyrs and pay tribute to Shahid Bhagat Singh, Shahid Raj Guru and Shahid Sukhdev Singh on 23rd March (MARTYRS DAY) every year at the junction of sector 3 CBD Belapur Navi Mumbai from where Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg starts. It also contributed funds for the soldier's welfare, during the Kargil war in the year 1999.
PCWA always stood first towards all the needy during the natural calamities like earth quake in Gujarat and Maharashtra, Tsunami in Uttarkhand and flood in Tamil Nadu and Kerala and is always standby for such supports.
Free Dispensary (Shahid Baba Deep Singh Dispensary)
PCWA is running a free dispensary on name of Shahid Baba Deep Singh Jiat Punjab Heritage Bhavanwith support of MGM hospital CBD. Doctors are available from Monday to Friday for free consultation. It is open for everyone with no discrimination of religion, caste or creed. It also organizes free medical checkup camp / eye checkup camps etc.
PCWA is having its own library on name of Baba Shaikh Farid library which is full of variety books related to all religions, cultural and general knowledge. It is being provided free of cost to everyone.
PCWA organized important functions like weddings of poor girls, seminars and social activities at Sher - e - Punjab hall. We have successfully conducted seminar on Baba Shaikh Farid Ji, 400 years of installation of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Shahid Bhagat Singh, centenary celebration of Shri Balraj Sahni and 550th anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak DevJi.
Fruits Distribution In Navi Mumbai Municipal Hospital
PCWA is promoting education and support the deserving 30 students from all the schools in CBD Navi Mumbai by way of paying their fees, books and uniforms every year since 1990 and continued till date. It also organize workshop on career guidance for the needy students.
PCWA organize variety cultural programs to keep our culture and mother tongue (Punjabi) alive in Maharashtra, like Baisakhi Da Mela, Lohri Kudiyan Di, Lohri Shagna Di ,Monsoon Mela, Sufian program by famous singer Hans Raj Hans and cultural program by Pammi Bhai and many more. It also organized Raabta program with team from Door Darshan Jalandhar at CBD Navi Mumbai.
